Perfect Coffee Solution Hamilton Beach 49980A 2-Way Single Serve Brewer and Coffee Maker

After two failed Keurig machines, it was time for a change. My wife and I were looking for a programmable machine that could also fill the single cup requirement, and this fit perfectly. This Hamilton Beach 49980A machine has been far more useful than I ever imagined. I love that I can brew just a single serving, and the brew is quite hot and quick, eliminating the bitter aftertaste from over-extraction.

But the BEST feature - and quite unexpected - is this Hamilton Beach 49980A machine's ability to also brew loose-leaf tea in the reusable single-serve basket. I imagined that I would only be using this coffee maker occasionally, but with this feature I use it nearly every day on campus. I love non-caffinated herbal teas, and this machine does a pretty good job with them.

It's nice to finally have a carafe that doesn't leak and spill when pouring a cup - the design is great and it's nice to no longer have coffee dribbling out the side or down the front of the carafe when pouring. Many reviews mentioned that the carafe poured with no spillage, and I have happily found that to be the case.

No drips, not even when pouring a full carafe of water into the chamber. The single-serve side allows for the use of Senseo pods or your own ground coffee. I had to play around with the amount to get my single cup how I like it, so there was some trial and error, but overall I'm pleased with the single-serve side.
