Reviews From Sam Driver, D. Brewer and B. Speer for Bonavita BV1800TH 8-Cup Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe

Good coffee, simple, compact design, November 8, 2013 By Sam Driver (Washington, VA United States)
"What I like best about this Bonavita BV1800TH 8-Cup Coffee Maker is its overall simplicity and the design emphasis that was placed on brewing good coffee but not on loading the device with gadgets and non-essential features. I don't need a replaceable filter for the water. I don't need a built in coffee grinder.
The Bonavita BV-1800TH 8-Cup Coffee Maker is a top rated coffee maker and one of four SCAA certified home coffee brewers
The brew speed is fast, about 5 minutes for an 8-cup pot. I tested the temperature of the water at the brew head and it was 200 degrees. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for about 3 hours. This is actually an improvement over my old coffee maker, a plasticy monstrosity made by Black and Decker. The old coffee maker had a glass pot and burner to keep it warm. The Bonavita BV1800TH only uses electricity during the brew cycle and turns itself off automatically after 15 minutes."

"We love love love this Bonavita coffee maker. I love the fact that the thermal carafe is glass-lined; it doesn't stain like our old stainless steel one did. It also keeps the coffee hotter (and therefore tastier) than the old one. I had never used a cone filter pot before, but it's ridiculously easy. Super easy to use: On. There's no brew-stop, so you have to wait until it's finished before pouring your first tasty cup, but it's super-fast so that's not an issue. LOL The coffee is hot and delicious and we are very pleased."

Price might make buyers pause. Superior flavor will attract appreciation., February 21, 2012 By B. Speer (Auburn, California USA)
"I make espresso after grinding my beans. Also use french press and Aerobie as well as the Melita pour through filter and an older drip coffee maker. The Rocky Rancilio grinder has taught me more about making coffee than anything else by varying the grind minutely to speed or slow brewing. Brewed coffee finishes very hot.

Brew time is fast. Six cups in 5 minutes plus seconds. Grind, put in filter and water, button ON. Incidentally the caraf is heavy with glass interior and snug lid that pours through small opening preserving interior heat. Pull machine out add water for number of cups wanted. Get gram scale out, paper filter in holder on scale. Set scale to "zero" and add coffee BEANS at 6 to 9 grams per cup. "
